"Lesno Rajza Navi - secrets of the ancient map in the digital world". - meeting with Czesław Tyrol and Czesław Bambynek
to 10.07.2026 (19:30)
Muzeum w Tarnowskich Górach
Since 1676, the people of Tarnowskie Góry have been making uninterrupted pilgrimages to the shrine in Piekary Slaskie, fulfilling the vows they took during the plague. Despite difficult periods, wars and political turmoil, this tradition has survived for three and a half centuries, becoming a deeply rooted element of the local identity. The exhibition explores the history of the vowed pilgrimage - its origins, development and contemporary face - highlighting not only its religious but also its social and cultural dimensions.
At 11:00, prior to the opening of the exhibition, a Mass with a sermon on the pilgrimage tradition will be held in the Church of Sts Peter and Paul in Tarnowskie Góry. The opening of the exhibition at 12:00 will be honoured by an organ concert performed by Bartłomiej Kwiatkowski.
