The exhibition shows the fate of the inhabitants of the Tarnogórski poviat, whose lives since 1 September 1939 have been entangled in various ways in the fate of the largest armed conflict in the history of the world. The exhibition depicts their fate both in the areas incorporated into the Third Reich and after its occupation by the Red Army in January 1945, as well as in the General Government, on the fronts of World War II and in the resistance movement. The exhibition features around 400 objects, including among others: elements of uniforms and weaponry, photographs, iconography depicting Tarnowskie Góry, documents confirming manifestations of various activities of the inhabitants of the Tarnogórski poviat in the years 1939-1945, as well as objects showing everyday life of its inhabitants at that time.

Moderated by: Dr. Krzysztof Gwóźdź - curator and head of the History Department of the Museum in Tarnowskie Góry. Doctor of humanities in the field of history. Author of publications and exhibitions in the field of regional history, in particular: the times of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, the history of the Silesian shooting fraternities, the past of the Tarnowskie Góry Jewish community in the years 1815-1939, town cartography, expulsions of the German population from the territory of the Tarnowskie Góry district, local opposition circles in the period from 1980 to 1989, and the Police of the Silesian Voivodeship.
