The theme of the 17th edition of the INDUSTRIADA Festival of the Route of Industrial Monuments is "Faces of Industry". Behind every machine, building and invention there is a specific story and specific people. This year's edition of the festival wants to give them a voice and show the industry through the prism of their experiences and everyday work. It is a story about those who have been building the region's potential for decades: factory workers, engineers, craftsmen, inventors, community workers and enthusiasts. At the same time, the slogan of this year's celebration of the Route of Industrial Monuments refers to the various facets of industry itself - from technology and architecture to the social, landscape and cultural transformations that have shaped the contemporary face of the Silesian Voivodeship.
This is the first edition of INDUSTRIADA, in which Dworzec Kultury in Tarnowskie Góry is involved as a friend of the festival and of the Industrial Monuments Route. Detailed programme of events below.
12:00-13:30 - Workshops for children and young people "The steam engine - how steam set the world in motion"
Participants of the classes will not only learn about the history of the steam engine, but will also have the opportunity to see a working model of it and learn the principle of its operation by means of several simple experiments. To make the topic more memorable, the workshop will end with a short game involving all participants.
14:00-14:45 and 15:00-15:45 - A guided tour of the mock-up
A demonstration of miniature trains and a story about the mock-up, the Tarnogórski railway junction and local monuments from the UNESCO World Heritage List.
16:00-17:45 - Open-air guided tour
The walk, combined with a story about the railway traditions of the city, will start at the monument to the creator of the coal trunk line - Józef Nowkuński at Plac Mariana Zembala, i.e. near the railway station building. There, participants will learn about the history of railways in Tarnowskie Góry, including the significance of the Coal Main Line and the role of Józef Nowkuński. The next points of the walk are the historic locomotives located in Pokoju Street, next to the former railway school and the building of the school (currently the John Paul II Complex of Technical and Service Schools in Tarnowskie Góry). The route will continue along Częstochowska Street, where there are buildings which originally served the railway and the railwaymen's families, including the water tower, former warehouses, as well as the old railway station and the present railway station, where we will end the walk. During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to hear not only facts from history, but also numerous interesting facts and anecdotes. There will also be an opportunity to win small prizes by solving tasks involving participants during the walk.
18:00-18:30 - Screening of the film "Mosaic"
"Mosaic" is a feature film made by the Museum in Tarnowskie Góry in 2024. The documentary tells the story of the history of the local railway junction from the perspective of the people, their emotions and micro-histories, which form the great story of the Tarnowskie Góry railway.
Additionally, between 12:00 and 18:00:
- Possibility to visit the railway mock-up (trains run every 30 minutes) and the exhibition "Railway on a Poster - from the collection of Konrad Rogowski"
