A community project has been launched, culminating in a monumental soft installation. Most importantly, this unique work will be created through the joint efforts of the people of Tarnowskie Góry themselves. And you don’t need to be a crochet master or a knitting virtuoso to contribute your bit, or rather… your own stitch.

The rules are simple. All you need to do is pick up some free yarn in one of the three available colours and create your own section of the future installation. Packs of materials are available to anyone interested at two locations: the main TCK building in the city centre and the TCK branch in Opatowice.

The organisers give participants complete freedom to do as they please. You can knit on your own in the comfort of your own home, using a specially prepared video tutorial that explains the whole process step by step (you can find it at: https://tinyurl.com/2kwmhcue).

For those who would prefer to work in a group, are looking for inspiration, or have simply never held knitting needles before, free workshops have been organised.

Lack of skills is no excuse – the organisers promise to teach everything from scratch on the spot. Meanwhile, experienced crafters are all the more welcome. What counts in this project is the desire to take part, a bit of free time and every pair of hands, because together we are creating something that will go down in the history of Tarnowskie Góry’s birthday celebrations for a long time to come.
