And before that, the Brigade members had been wondering: what did Gwarek eat? What did a certain Rybka dig up? And they ‘gave Piękna from Rept a hard time’.

The RR Brigade is a group of graduates from the Krzysztof Respondek Special Educational Centre.

To mark the town’s 500th anniversary, they were preparing for the Gwarek festival as part of the ‘Rehabilitation 25+’ programme, taking part in a unique walk in the footsteps of places linked to our town’s history. During their walk together, they discovered well-known and lesser-known corners of Tarnowskie Góry, admired the monuments and learnt about the extraordinary stories linked to our town. During classroom sessions, they learnt about the heroes of the Miners’ March, pondered what a miner used to eat, and uncovered the mystery of what a certain Mr Rybka had dug up. In art and craft sessions, meanwhile, they prepared a Tarnowskie Góry speciality – ‘Piękna z Rept’.

– It was a wonderful time when we combined rehabilitation, learning, creative play and discovering the history and traditions of our town. After all, the best way to get to know your local area is when you can do it together and with a smile!
