Six pupils from Tarnowskie Góry were among the winners of the 2025/2026 Provincial Subject Competitions organised by the Silesian Education Superintendent. At galas in Katowice and Bytom they received distinctions and congratulations.

In the 12 Provincial Subject Competitions this school year, among the 447 laureates were:

• Hanna Bach (double winner: chemistry, physics), Nadia Chudzik (100% points for solving the competition sheet in Polish language), Laura Kosak (Polish language) - from Primary School No. 5,
• Antoni Frączek (history) - from Primary School No. 8,
• Magdalena Wockenfuβ (German language) - from Primary School No. 11,
• Oskar Kapusniak (mathematics) - Primary School No. 15.

Our pupils among the best

The laureates who achieved the best results - triumphing in at least two fields or achieving the maximum number of points - were congratulated at a gala ceremony in the Silesian Parliament Hall on 23 April by the Silesian Governor Marek Wójcik and the Silesian Superintendent of Education Aleksandra Dyla.

In the Silesian Voivodeship, two pupils won the title of quadruple prize-winner, 7 triple prize-winners and 20 double prize-winners. There were 7 pupils in the Silesian Voivodeship who obtained 100% of the points.

We are all the more proud of Hanna Bach and Nadia Chudzik!

At the Katowice gala, only the Tarnogórska Primary School No. 5 was represented by two students, and the headmaster of this school, Ewa Ziemba, spoke on behalf of the principals of primary schools in the Silesian voivodeship.

The other laureates from our town and district (there were 14 this school year) received certificates from the Director of the Delegation of the School Superintendent's Office in Bytom, Joanna Baran. The gala took place at the end of April at the Youth Cultural Centre No. 1 in Bytom.

Prizes for laureates and finalists

Winners of the Provincial Subject Competitions are exempted from the eighth-grade examination if the subject of the competition is an examination subject. At the same time, they receive an excellent grade on their school-leaving certificate and have priority in recruitment to secondary schools. Finalists receive 7 points each when recruiting for secondary schools. This school year, there were 922 finalists in our province.
