Cyclists, Nordic walkers and runners, together with primary school pupils from Sowice, today officially opened the refurbished section of Grzybowa Street linking Sowice with Puferki and Strzybnica.

Along a 3.14-kilometre stretch of the road, in addition to a new road surface with drainage and new junctions, street lighting and a combined footpath and cycle path have been installed.
“Everyone will benefit from this road, not just cyclists, because environmental protection is universal and serves everyone, without exception – said Arkadiusz Czech today – the mayor of Tarnowskie Góry, expressing his delight that the path built by the Tarnowskie Góry District Council complements the town’s cycle network.

Both the contractors, the investors (the County Council) and the users emphasised safety issues.

The project, worth around 15.5 million zlotys, was made possible thanks to support from the Government Road Development Fund (over 8 million zlotys), EU funding (4.4 and 3.9 million zlotys) and 300,000 zlotys from the town of Tarnowskie Góry.
The route forms part of the key cycling corridors of Regional Cycle Route No. 605.
